Art club closed until November.

Art club will close and resume with the next new group in November. I will post the names of the children in the next group shortly. 

Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm running reading workshops for the parents in my class during October and I'm unable to do these both activities together because of child care issues.

The prints.

Group 4 have been busy.

We had a very messy printing session today. 

With lots of fun! 

Group 4 start back date.

Group 4 will resume Art Club on the 12th of September for two weeks. 

So they will be attending on the 12th and the 19th. These will be their final two sessions.

Art club this Tuesday.

We will have our final Art Club this Tuesday as it's the last week of school. 

Please come along. It finishes at 5:15pm. 

Bring a snack with you as you all seem to be a bit hungry after school.

First print.

Group 4 had their first go at relief print this evening. It was harder than they thought!

Selling our work.

I don't think people quite understand how it makes a child feel when a person buys something that they've created. 

The pride in being valued by others who consider that their artwork is good enough to be given as a gift to someone or displayed in someone's home is a great feeling and achievement. 

We have talked about this in our Art Club whilst making and creating. The children have not considered themselves worthy enough craftspeople/artists to sell their work to the public. They've stated they are not good enough and although they were excited to sell they were also very anxious about it. 

Some of the things they've said are...

What if no one buys the cards? What if everyone else's sells and mine doesn't? What if people say they are rubbish? Perhaps we should only charge 20p! 

At this very young age they are considering their worth and creative ability and by supporting them with your purchase you are boosting their self belief and sending a strong message of worth. 

Not every person is academic in a language and mathematics, core subject way. Some of us have hidden talents and skills that many parents and teachers have yet to discover. The challenge is ensuring that children have opportunities to have a go at different creative experiences and to encorage confidence in their abilities. 

We have many talents as human beings and they should all be celebrated and valued. 

Thank you for supporting us. It really does mean a lot and I know in art club there'll be lots of discussions about how many things they've sold.

If you wish to join Art Club then please complete the slip below. Print it off and return it to Mrs James.  Your name will be added to the list. Art club is organised and offered to 10 children every 6 weeks. You'll find your name and group date on the right of this blog page. 

 

Art work for sale...

Please look out for Art Clubs wonderful creations in our school fete on Friday. They have made some beautiful hand printed cards and framed images.

We have had a wonderful time creating with group 3. They have worked very hard and produced some inspiring prints. Their work will be for sale on Friday in our Summer Fete.
